Orange County Custom Lasik

At Global Laser Vision in San Diego or Orange County, our goal is to educate potential LASIK patients and advise them as to whether or not they are good candidates. Our doctors are very careful in deciding which patients are indeed good candidates for laser vision correction and each patient is educated about the expected outcome and inherent risks associated with the procedures.

We provide you with the most thorough examination and consultation so that you have the information you need to make an informed decision. We invite you to improve the quality of your life by reducing or eliminating your dependency on your glasses or contact lenses. Find out today if laser vision correction or LASIK is the right procedure for you.

A thorough eye exam includes: visual acuity, a refraction to determine your refractive error (this is what we use to base our treatment with the laser on), pupil tests, tonometry, slit lamp examination, topography, Wavefront analysis, Pachymetry, and a dilated eye exam. The eye exam includes microscope evaluation of external and internal eye structures for cataracts, cornea disease, retina disease, and glaucoma. In addition, corneal topography machines are used to give us a full computer analysis of the curvatures of the cornea. The Pachymetry test measures the thickness of the cornea and gives true information used in the surgical planning for the LASIK procedure.

LASIK San Diego Cataracts

Laser vision correction has successfully corrected the vision of over 6 million people. Individuals who suffer from myopia (nearsightedness) with or without astigmatism or hyperopia (farsightedness) with or without astigmatism can choose laser vision correction as an alternative to contact lenses or eyeglasses.

LASIK is an acronym for Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, which means “to reshape the cornea by using a laser." The difference between PRK and LASIK Surgery is that PRK treats the exterior of the eye, reshaping the outside surface while LASIK Eye Surgery reshapes the cornea after a thin flap has been created on the surface of the eye.

As a result, with LASIK there is less area to heal, less risk of scarring, less risk of corneal haze, less postoperative pain, fewer postoperative medications, and vision is often improved more rapidly. Gordon Binder Weiss Vision Institute was one of the initial centers in the United States to offer LASIK Eye Surgery.

Excimer Laser Vision Correction, known medically as Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), is a precise, minimally invasive method of reshaping the cornea. Gordon Binder Weiss Vision Institute eye surgeons use state-of-the-art, computerized Excimer Lasers to gently remove a thin layer of tissue from the cornea’s surface, flattening the cornea to achieve the desired correction. This reshaping of the cornea helps the eye to focus properly, thus reducing or eliminating the need for eyeglasses and contact lenses. Two variations of this procedure are called LASEK (Laser Assisted Epithelial Keratomileusis) and EPI-LASIK.
