Sacramento LASIK
LASIK is the most advanced form of Laser Vision Correction and it
has helped thousands of patients improve their vision and reduce
their dependence on glasses and contacts.
Custom laser vision correction and its application using
sophisticated iris tracking is the latest advance in laser vision
correction. Besides being nearsighted, farsighted and astigmatic in
various combinations we all have some unique imperfections in the
way our eyes bend light. No two eyes or patients have the same
unique imperfections. That is why these unique imperfections, or
Wavefront abnormalities as they are known, have come to define what
we call the "fingerprint" of your eye. CustomVue or Wavefront
treatment allows us to not only treat the things glasses and contact
lenses correct but also these unique abnormalities. Every patient we
see has a WaveScan analysis with both the Visx and Marco Wavefront
machines. We then carefully evaluate the type and amount of these
imperfections with each patient and make recommendations as to
whether custom laser vision correction is appropriate for each
individual.
The Food and Drug Administration approved PRK in 1995. It is the
first FDA approved laser vision correction procedure using the
excimer laser. PRK is an alternative way of
performing laser vision correction, and a good choice for many
people who have been told they may not be an ideal candidate for
LASIK. The PRK procedure uses the same type of excimer laser as
LASIK. And, just like LASIK, PRK is able to correct nearsightedness,
farsightedness, and astigmatism.

LASIK or Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis is the most commonly performed
refractive surgery. Its popularity is based on the ease of the
procedure, painlessness and immediate results. After the LASIK
procedure, in most cases daily activities can be done without
corrective lenses.
An instrument called a microkeratome is used in LASIK eye surgery to
create a thin, circular flap in the cornea. The surgeon folds the
flap back out of the way, and a laser
light beam precisely removes small areas of tissue to reshape your
cornea. This procedure is performed under a protective layer of
corneal tissue which results in less
surface area to heal, less risk of scarring and less risk of corneal
haze.
NearVision Ck is performed using a probe thinner than a strand of
hair that releases radiofrequency energy. Applied to the cornea in a
circular pattern, the radio waves
shrink small areas of collagen to create a constrictive band (like
tightening a belt) that increases the curvature of the cornea,
bringing near vision back into focus.
