Total Eye Care
At Total Eye Care our patients love our hi-tech, thorough eye exams.
We employ the latest in advanced instrumentation. Technology
improves the detection and treatment of diseases, allowing the
Doctors to see their patients in a relaxed atmosphere.
Laser Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis is the most popular method of
refractive surgery. It is a quantum leap improvement over the old
method called (RK) Radial Keratotomy. RK was followed by (PRK) Photo
Refractive Keratectomy. At Total Eye Care we partner with our
patients in finding the best procedure (whether it is LASIK, PRK, 30
day extended wear contacts or clear lens extraction to name just a
few of the options available) and the best surgeon for their
situation and give our patients an unbiased opinion on the best
procedure for them. We provide pre and post-operative care for our
patients.
We offer thorough, unhurried eye health exams for adults and
children, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and injuries,
laser vision correction management, emergency care, a huge selection
of frames, lenses, and contacts, and the latest technology to make
eye care more accurate, comfortable and effective.
With all that, there's no need to go anywhere else for quality
family eye care. Because caring for generations of families is what
we do best at Total Eye Care.
Total Eye Care was started in January 1995 by Dr. Diana Driscoll and
Dr. Rich Driscoll. The Doctors met in San Antonio, Texas and decided
they wanted to practice together in the Dallas / Fort Worth
Metroplex. After six months of searching for the ideal location they
decided to open their office in Colleyville, TX located at 5005
Colleyville Blvd. Dr. Alycia Green joined the practice in April
2008. After 13+ years, on September 2, 2008, Drs. Driscoll relocated
Total Eye Care into their new building located at 6114 Colleyville
Boulevard.

Every person who has diabetes is at risk to lose their vision
because of changes that occur in the eye caused by diabetes. There
are other potential risks to the kidneys & legs as well. The eye
disease can be treated but timing is very critical. Because of this
the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends a yearly dilated
examination by an Eye MD (Ophthalmologist) for every person who has
diabetes. Persons who have to use insulin for control are more at
risk but the disease known as "diabetic retinopathy" can occur in
any diabetic person.
If diabetes is found in the eyes, then more frequent eye exams are
necessary. If certain changes occur, treatment with a special
"laser" is indicated. This surgery is usually performed by an
ophthalmologist who has become a sub specialist in retina & vitreous
diseases. We are fortunate to have two well trained doctors here in
Amarillo. Before treatment, tests are performed which tell where in
the eye treatment should be done. A dye called fluorescein is
injected in an arm vein. Using a special kind of camera, photographs
are taken of the inside of the eye as the dye circulates in the
arteries & veins of the eye. This information is used to place the
treatment in the right place.
