LASIK (Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis) is an FDA-approved
refractive procedure intended to reduce your dependency on
eyeglasses or contact lenses. LASIK is the most commonly performed
refractive procedure at Kraff Eye because of the quick results and
recovery time it provides.
Our LASIK surgeons conduct a thorough examination during your
complimentary consultation to make sure you are a candidate for the
procedure. They want to make sure you are educated about the
expected outcomes and inherent risks associated with the procedure.

The procedure itself takes about 10 minutes to complete and requires
no needles or stitches. Our doctors use the safest, most progressive
technologies to ensure you get
the best possible outcome from your LASIK surgery.
During LASIK, a thin layer of tissue is folded back from the surface
of your cornea using either an IntraLase laser or a microkeratome.
Our doctors can then use the VISX S4 tracking laser to reshape your
cornea based on your individual eye condition. The procedure can
help treat most eye conditions including but not limited to
nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Most of our
patients will see a noticeable improvement in vision within a few
hours and many are able to return to normal activities within 24
hours.
CustomVue is the actual LASIK procedure tailored for the individual
characteristics of your eyes. Prior to the LASIK procedure, we use
AMO WaveScan technology to
capture the unique imperfections in your vision that could not have
been measured before. This new level of measurement provides
twenty-five times more precision than
measurements using standard methods for glasses and contact lenses.
WaveScan technology produces a detailed map of your eye and
translates this information into a
set of CustomVue treatment instructions for the laser. WaveScan
information and digital instructions are then transferred to the
STAR S4 IRâ„¢ Excimer Laser System,
providing a new level of precision and accuracy for the Kraff Eye
Institute LASIK surgeons.

problems or eye diseases such as, glaucoma or retinal detachment.
Some reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contacts; this may
also be an effective treatment for superficial corneal disorders.
